Candor is on the hunt for a driven, senior-level public relations practitioner with a proven track record of leading client accounts, managing high-stakes media relations, leading teams and delivering results. You’re not just adept at pitching stories — you’re the go-to expert in crisis communications, team leadership and strategic PR initiatives. With a sharp business mindset, you’ve guided executives and teams through complex challenges and consistently delivered insights that move the needle.

While this role is centered on public relations, you’ll also have the opportunity to flex your marketing muscles, as we often integrate PR and marketing efforts to create cohesive, impactful campaigns for our clients.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a senior public relations thought leader for the agency, setting and driving PR strategy for key client accounts across industries. You’ll operate in both a lead and support role to ensure flawless execution.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, regional and national media.

  • Secure strategic earned media coverage to support client goals.

  • Stay current on understanding clients’ industries, competition and media landscape to anticipate challenges and uncover opportunities.

  • Use PR monitoring and analytics tools to track performance, identify trends and craft detailed reports that demonstrate measurable success for our clients.

  • Lead account teams to deliver on client objectives while fostering career growth within the agency. You’ll lead by example, empowering others to succeed.

  • Offer executive-level counsel and manage client relationships, ensuring high-level expectations are consistently met.

  • Create high-quality content — from press releases and opinion pieces to blogs and social media — to drive brand narratives and resonate with target audiences.

  • Conduct media training sessions to help clients tell their stories with confidence and clarity.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor in crisis situations, providing communications counsel and executing strategies.

  • Leverage your knowledge of community leadership and governmental processes to enhance client positioning and influence at the local, municipal, and state levels.\

  • Provide candid, actionable feedback to both internal teams and clients, ensuring that public relations efforts align with and support overarching business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in the public relations field

  • Agency experience is strongly preferred; newsroom experience is a plus

  • Ability to turn projects quickly in a fast-paced environment

  • Marketing, event planning and advertising experience are a plus

  • Demonstrated results in media relations, including strategic earned coverage and strong media relationships

  • Demonstrated news writing ability for press releases, newsletters and magazines (AP Style)

  • Ability to manage a number of high priority projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

  • Openness to feedback and willingness to iterate on designs

  • Excellent communication skills
